This shot caught my attention because of the texture on the leaves and the backlit glow of the flower. Azalea at Carolina Native Nursery.
Really liked this composition and the way the stamen float because of the shallow depth of field. The focus point could have been better to improve the image.
Flame azalea at Carolina Native Nursery. The last opportunity this season to shoot the blooms with the greenhouses covered.
Very simple composition relies on depth of filed and leading lines to guide focus. Had additional compositions but this is the one that stood out.
Bee on a yellow azalea at Carolina Native Nursery. They were busy, working away while we were looking at plants.
Macro image of a pink azalea from Carolina Native Nursery. The stamen on the plant made it difficult to shoot up close but it was a good learning experience. Hope to go back and work with smaller plants in the process of blooming for interesting compositions.
Azalea macro images from Carolina Native Nursery. With white subjects you need to reduce exposure, 1/3 stop here to reduce detail loss. Liked the compositions from this size flower as its easy to get in close.
Very selective focus on the azalea anther. Trying to let the lines lead into the flower but wished there was a little more in focus. My opinion goes back and forth on this one...
Liked the the way the other flowers framed this bloom into focus. Additional photos within the post of other "single" flowers.
