The huge Canna Lily leaves caught a lot of light in the US Botanic Garden. Shallow depth of field and vibrant color help, wish the bottom edge was in focus.
A couple quick macro images taken in the United States Botanic Garden in Washington DC. Spent most of the time working on the Canna Lily shots but these were two of the other subjects that caught my attention.
Captured this insect inside a flower during our walk across the Flowering Bridge. So many plants to choose from, easy place to shoot macro images.
There was plenty in bloom on the Flowering Bridge at Lake Lure. This vibrant yellow flower provided a few compositions to play with.

Last azalea macro of the season. The greenhouses are uncovered and the blooms will fade until next year. Really enjoyed the time spent at Carolina Native Nursery, if you're in the market they have beautiful plants.
Not every macro image needs to be abstract. Let the shallow focus do the work and show off the subject when possible.
When I first set out to shoot macros the goal was to create strong color images. Wish the focus was sharp on the petal on the left but getting closer to the types of images that inspired me to experiment.
