The Stillwell Building at Hendersonville High School.  Lately the subject of a lot of debate as the County considered renovation or replacement.  At the moment it appears to be safe as it will continue to host classes, since 1926. Designed by Erle Stillwell, the architect created many prominent buildings in Henderson County, Western North Carolina and extending into the Southeast US.  Growing up in Hendersonville [...]

Jump Off Rock

2019-02-08T15:37:44+00:00

Jump Off Rock is at the top of Echo Mountain in Laurel Park.  Just 5 miles from Downtown Hendersonville it's a great spot to photograph the Blue Ridge Mountains and Mount Pisgah.  I grew up in Laurel Park so it's a location I go to often.  Open from sunrise to sunset, there are a couple trails in the park and it's often the gathering spots [...]

McClintock Clock

2019-02-08T02:11:54+00:00

The McClintock Clock was added to the side of the Old State Trust Co. Building in 1927.  O.B. McClintock Co. of Minneapolis specialized in large clocks for banks and the one in Hendersonville has gone through several restorations, the last in 2013.

100 N. King Street

2019-02-08T02:09:11+00:00

More of an educational post rather than fine photography, 100 N King Street in Hendersonville hosts a variety of the Henderson County Offices.  I get to visit on occasion for clients because it hosts the planning department, permits, etc...Also hosts the Agribusiness of Henderson County.  Nice day to be walking around so I thought I'd grab a couple photos and play tour guide.

The Waverly Inn

2019-02-08T02:07:56+00:00

The oldest surviving inn in Hendersonville, the Waverly Inn was opened in 1898.  Queen Ann style architecture, the bed and breakfast was originally known as the Anderson Boarding House until 1915.  The Inn has never closed and is still a favorite location because of its easy walk onto Main Street.

Jump Off Rock Park

2019-02-08T02:05:55+00:00

A couple additional shots from Jump Off, this is one of the first times I've photographed it during a February day.  I typically don't like the "bleak" look of landscapes when all the leaves are off the trees, but the infrared B&W helps bring additional interest.  The park has a few short trails to enjoy, open sunrise to sunset.

Front Porch View from Appleola Road, Hendersonville NC

Simple shot from a home showing in Hendersonville.  Was working for the majority of the time and didn't have time to go out and shoot anything specific.  From the front porch I liked the lines in the image and the view below.   Nice home on Appleola Road I was showing buyers on their home search in Henderson County.
