Edwin Carrier’s electric railway helped drive growth into West Asheville during the 1890s through the 1930s. It ran passengers and tourists across the French Broad River improving the connection to downtown. The monuments continue from Haywood Road past the West Asheville end of the line sign across from the Mothlight.
