Urban Trail stop number 27. Macro shot from Monument Corner. Located in front of the Jackson building on Pack Square. The marker commemorates the tombstone shop previously located there and referenced in Look Homeward, Angel.
The Appalachian Stage is stop #13 on the Asheville Urban Trail. Bronze statues created by Gary Aslum honor the bluegrass roots of the area.
The Basilica of St. Lawrence is stop #12 on the Asheville Urban Trail. "Guastavino's Monument" honors the beautiful Spanish Renaissance architecture completed in 1909. Known for the freestanding elliptical dome, it can be viewed on self guided tours within the church.
Flat Iron at Station #8 on the Asheville Urban Trail. The VW Bus was just driving by, thought it was a little more interesting than the original frame (below). The sculpture honors the first steam laundry in the city and is in front of the Flat Iron Building.
