These are my favorite images from 2019. Many are from the West, I was lucky to travel this year and love the national parks. To complete my first 365 project I also began shooting macro images for the first time and concentrated on black and white photography.
Traveling to Maya sites like Xunantunich was a definite highlight in Belize. El Castillo is about 130 feet high and construction dates back to around 800 AD. Great view from the top.
I liked the lines and greyscale feeling on this orchid macro. Just a pop of color. Taken in the Biltmore Conservatory.
Originally went for the color but the light was right for the infrared camera. First image next to the Bass Pond at the Biltmore Estate, the second walking on the Meadow Trail.
Orchid image from the Biltmore Conservatory. Although I enjoy shooting macro images I struggle with titles. For simplicity a file number should suffice going forward unless there is something obvious.
Reflections on Unity is the sculpture in front of the Asheville Art Museum. Created by Henry Richardson it's a nice addition to Pack Square Plaza. The glass and light will create a changing subject easy to capture when you are downtown.
Sunset at Yellowstone Lake. Nice evening with some color bouncing off the clouds and directional light on the mountains. The lake itself is massive, 110 miles of shoreline.
Named Artist Point because it was thought to be the location painter Thomas Moran created his work. Later shown to be incorrect but the overlook is still a great spot to check out Lower Falls. The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is approximately 24 miles long heading downstream from the waterfall.
Main Terrace Overlook at Mammoth Hot Springs. Yellowstone National Park has a lot of different subjects to fill the time.

Mineral deposit terraces at Mammoth Hot Springs are constantly changing. Not sure I had the name of this attraction in Yellowstone National Park but plan to look it up soon.
