Sometimes it feels like the trail is all uphill. Max Patch is not a bad little walk, don't take this photo too seriously. Lensbaby selective focus lens created the blurred effect.
Really enjoyed a couple shots with the trail and tree tops creating lines through the photos. Couldn't choose which I thought were the best so I'm sharing a variety.
Happy to see an older trail marker. The age of the Appalachian Trail doesn't always agree with the newer markers you see in heavy use areas. Max Patch Loop Trial.
Another view from the 360 Bald on Max Patch. It doesn't take much movement on the bald to change the photo. Really is a location you can plan time of day or go up and shoot what's best.
Max Patch is one of the Bald Mountains along the Tennessee and North Carolina Border. 360 degree views, easy to catch big skies here.
Shooting in black and white I look for texture. In color this wasn't appealing to me but the grass trying to take over the bald caught my attention. Shot this composition several different ways.
First time to Max Patch in Madison County. Had the opportunity to walk the trail after appointments in Hot Springs. Focused on the B&Ws during the afternoons.
Of the 2 hikes I took on Max Patch, this day was very clear while the other had hazy conditions. Visited in early March but just finding time to update the site. Great views in all directions.
Max Patch is a well-know section of the Appalachian Trail. Easy to complete quick hikes around the loop when you're in the area.
