Recently discovered at Xunantunich, the largest Mayan burial tomb in the last 100 years. Also the last post of 2019, I've figured out how to organize multiple web projects taking on this 365 goal. For every image you see on this site, there are 10 others that didn't work. Daily production is hard, but keep digging.

On the plateau before ascending the final steps on El Castillo. The friezes wrapped around and depicted several scenes as well as gods of creation.
Traveling to Maya sites like Xunantunich was a definite highlight in Belize. El Castillo is about 130 feet high and construction dates back to around 800 AD. Great view from the top.
Heading over to Xunantunich you cross the Mopan River on a hand cranked ferry. The river also serves as the border between Belize and Guatemala about 3 miles upstream.
Candlestick Plant beside the garden at Hamanasi. Caught my attention because of the insect activity. Looked like a food and water source within the buds.
The treehouse rooms at Hamanasi are private and quiet but everything is close to the Great House. I spent plenty of time on that hammock as well.
One of my favorite places on the Hamanasi property was at the end of the pier. One of the most relaxing mornings I had this year. Also a fun book by Nick Offerman on America's Gutsiest Trouble Makers. Seemed like a fitting read over Thanksgiving.
