My favorite new photos from 2020. I shot a lot of black and white landscapes and color macros. Spent more time on Little Pisgah Mountain. The trips planned were disrupted because of the pandemic. During the down time I started organizing older images. I’m looking forward to the return of road trips and unrestricted travel.
Nice wide perspective on the mountain. The sunset behind the clouds allowed an even exposure and good detail in the foreground.
Easy to use the lawn lines at Biltmore as a dramatic foreground. The clouds help provide a resting space in this 1/3 - 2/3 composition.
Wide angle of the crepuscular rays on Little Pisgah. Looking towards Garren Creek and the Black Mountains in the background. Was expecting color during sunset but the dramatic clouds and sunbeams were the highlight.
The glass roof brings a lot of dramatic interest to the building. Infrared black and white along with a similar color composition.
Went back to the Biltmore Estate a few weeks ago when it opened again. Nice to spend some time on the grounds, didn't go inside the house. One of the activities we took for granted before the Covid-19 shutdowns.
Also got color images from the same sunset on Little Pisgah that I thought were good. Crepuscular rays (or sunbeams) highlight the fog in the valley.
Another mixed use zoning project on Haywood Road in West Asheville. I've photographed this building before but the late afternoon sun hit the metallic accent for a bit of added interest.
This shot caught my attention because of the texture on the leaves and the backlit glow of the flower. Azalea at Carolina Native Nursery.
Simple street shot on Haywood Road in West Asheville. Rare to catch wide angles without cars, will be nice for the businesses to be open again accepting customers. The Hop, Roanline, Black Cloud & Instant Karma pictured.
Really liked this composition and the way the stamen float because of the shallow depth of field. The focus point could have been better to improve the image.
