Zia is a local favorite for tacos in West Asheville.  Working on a community site featuring restaurants, shops, activities and the subdivisions for the neighborhood.  Should be up and running in 2020 but will start organizing images here.  If you want to check out Zia's menu the site can be found here: https://ziataco.com

Gan Shan West-West Asheville Restaurant

2019-06-14T12:32:29+00:00

Gan Shan West is at 285 Haywood Road next to Pizza Mind, Owl Bakery & Archetype Brewing.  One of my favorite Ramen restaurants and one of the many great places to eat in West Asheville.  Smaller dining space inside, additional seating in the outdoor courtyard.  Don't miss the chance to try the delicious noodles!

The Dude-West Asheville Mural

2020-02-20T17:18:48+00:00

"The Dude" is on the Sky Lanes bowling center in West Asheville.  Another entertaining mural and good memories of the Big Lebowski.  Using his words to describe life and the images in the 365 project, "Strikes and gutters, ups and downs".  I believe Gus Cutty created this work.  Will look online to try and confirm.

West Asheville & Sulphur Springs Electric Railway

2019-06-09T15:48:00+00:00

Edwin Carrier's electric railway helped drive growth into West Asheville during the 1890s through the 1930s.  It ran passengers and tourists across the French Broad River improving the connection to downtown.  The monuments continue from Haywood Road past the West Asheville end of the line sign across from the Mothlight.

Gus Cutty Mural

2019-09-10T21:31:05+00:00

I've been noticing Gus Cutty's work all over West Asheville.  This fox & bridge mural is at the Haywood Country Club in West Asheville.  Not a great photograph of the painting but I enjoy his work.  Happy to learn he has studio pieces as well.  Take a look here to see additional examples. http://www.guscutty.com/

Play Everyday Mural

2019-05-16T14:05:10+00:00

The Play Everyday Mural was inspired by a 1970s advertisement and created over an afternoon by Peter Parpan and Hannah Dansie.  There's more to the story but why re-tell it when its done well here on the Short Street Cakes website which is adjacent to the mural.
