Looking towards North Asheville from the Rankin Street Garage. Cloudless day but the sun created dramatic contrast in the infrared black and white.
The Rankin Street Garage is a great place to check out Asheville. Didn't have any clouds to work with on this trip but tried to split the composition into 3rds.
The Arras is the tallest building in Asheville, measuring 18 stories at 228 feet. Originally built as an office complex in 1964 I grew up knowing it as the BB&T building. Recent renovation has changed it into a hotel and condo in the center of town.
The Kress Building in Asheville, NC. Built in 1928, it is station #7 on the architecture trail. The building currently sells original works of art, crafts and antiques. Fun shop to visit.
The Basilica of St. Lawrence in Asheville, NC has the largest freestanding elliptical dome in North America. Walking towards the church you can catch a glimpse before going in.
I believe this is the rectory (or parish house) at the Basilica of St. Lawrence in Asheville, NC. Beautiful building downtown next to the Civic Center. I'll try to create a category for the architectural tour in Asheville with some of the images I'm collecting.
The Basilica of St. Lawrence in Asheville, NC. Designed by Spanish architect Rafael Guastavino in 1905. Has a little restoration work going on now but I'll be back to photograph it again when it's complete.
Hotel Cambria in Asheville, NC. Grove Arcade in the foreground, walkable to most downtown locations. Simple black and white infrared shot on a walk around town.
Looking towards the Black Mountains from Little Pisgah. Included in the range are Mt. Mitchell, Craggy Pinnacle and Greybeard but a couple of them are behind the clouds.
