Rule of thirds beach composition I shoot whenever visiting the ocean. Kalaloch Beach in Olympic National Park, harsh direct sunlight created strong contrast that helped.
We stayed at the Kalaloch Lodge in Olympic National Park while exploring the coast. Very peaceful setting with little cabins with direct access to the beach.
Shot of Sul Duc Falls in Olympic National Park. Taken from the bridge over the small canyon the river created through the rocks.
Salmon Cascades along the Sul Duc River in Olympic National Park. Composite image as we sat and watched the fish swimming from the Pacific Ocean upstream to spawn where they were born.
One of our day trips away from Kalaloch Lodge was into the Hoh Rain Forest and to hike to Sul Duc Falls in Olympic National Park.
The plan was to spend the day hiking around Lake Quinault in Olympic National Park but the rain changed our plans. Instead we checked out the Lodge and had a great breakfast in the Roosevelt Dining Room.
Last shot from Lake Crescent, Olympic National Park. The Lodge was a great place to stay in the park. Although we try to switch things up from one trip to another, if we make it back in the area it would be hard not to want to stay there again.
Shot from a path close to the Lake Crescent Lodge in Olympic National Park. Even when the sun was shining the tree canopy kept the light fairly even.
Simple water shots with morning fog over Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park.
